Singapore Mahjong Rules and Calculation.

How Breederan and His Kaki’s play Mahjong 5/1, Max 5 Points (Singapore Style) 

Format: The mahjong style that we are adopting would be one where the shooter pays for himself/herself as well as for the other 2 players on the table

 


                                            Breakdown of Payout (5/1)

The breakdown of how much the shooter pays can be found below

1 Point: The shooter pays 4 Chips (1+1+2)
2 Points: The shooter pays 8 Chips (2+2+4)
⁠3 Points: The shooter pays 16 Chips (4+4+8)
⁠4 Points: The shooter pays 32 Chips (8+8+16)
⁠5 Points: The shooter pays 64 Chips (16+16+32)

However, if players self-draw their winning tile, the rate they would receive would be.


1 Point: 7 Chips Each (2+5)
⁠2 Points: 9 Chips Each (4+5)
⁠3 Points: 13 Chips Each (8+5)
⁠4 Points: 21 Chips Each (16+5)
⁠5 Points: 37 Chips Each (32+5)

                                                     

                                                Other Payouts (Optional)


Bite (Own Animal and Flower)
At the start of the game, each player draws a corresponding animal as their spirit animal, if they get that animal.


- If 起手 (meaning you receive that animal when you open your starting tiles), you’ll receive 6 chips each. When you receive another animal that bites with your starting animal as your starting hand, it is considered a double bite and you’ll receive 12 chips.


- If you get it later on or if you get 2 of your own flower, you will receive 3 chips from the other players

 

 

                                                      Gang / An Gang
                                                     
- When your opponent throws the tile for you to Gang, the shooter will pay you 9 chips.


- ⁠If you bite/get your animal or draw your winning tile when you take a tile after you Gang Shang, the person who shoots the gang will also have to pay for it.


- ⁠Should you An Gang the tile, meaning you draw the same tile 4 times, you can An Gang and get 6 chips from each player.


- ⁠You receive one additional tai for when you draw your winning tile from a gang Shang

 

 


                                             Special Hands That Are Recognised

- For Pure 19, 13 Wonders, Da San Yuan, Da Si Xi, the shooter will pay a special rate of 111 chips.


- Otherwise, other special hands such as Xiao San Yuan, Xiao Si shooter will pay a maximum of Max 5 Tai, which is 64 chips.


- ⁠Men Qing Ping Hu: For players that self-draw and self-touch their winning tiles, and players who have not eaten any tiles from their up leg, they will receive 45 chips from each player

- Ping Hu Hand: For players that self-draw and self touch their winning tile, after eating a tile from their upleg, they will receive 25 chips from each player. Else if the winning tile is from a shooter, the shooter pays out 40 chips

                                               

 

                                                        Special Rules


- For all winning hands, if the player self touches a Kalong Tile, meaning player is only waiting for one tile, the player receives 5 Chips more from each of the 3 other players, regardless of the hand of their winning tiles

- ⁠Men Qing: Meaning player does not eat any tiles from the up leg and wins his/her hand by self-draw only, he/she gets one additional tai.

 



                                                   Common Questions


- One is not able to restart the game after an An Gang, even if 4 players throw the same tiles out for starting hand.

Who starts the game
- 4 players will take their seats and a random player/the host will roll the dice. According to the number on the dice, in a clockwise order, the players will draw a tile from 4 tiles: Dong, Nan, Xi, Bei faced down. The 4 players will then be seated by the tile they draw. Th person who takes Dong will be the dealer.
